The Yellowstone Ice Foundation is proud to present the development of a new indoor recreation facility in Billings, Montana. Thanks to a generous six million dollar donation from Signal Peak Energy, our community has the unique opportunity to address a significant shortfall in recreational amenities compared to other cities of similar or smaller size. Despite having a larger population than Bismarck, ND and Missoula, MT, which boast seven and two sheets of ice respectively, Billings has yet to fully capitalize on the growing demand for ice sports. This strategic initiative is designed not only to address this gap, but also to enhance Billings’ appeal as a hub for sports tourism and community activities.
Yellowstone Ice Foundation’s goal is to establish a multifunctional indoor ice facility that will serve as a pivotal resource for both enthusiasts and newcomers to ice sports within in our community. This facility is designed not only to attract junior amateur and professional teams, akin to the local Mustangs, but also to significantly enhance existing programs in hockey, curling, and figure skating that are currently limited by inadequate space. Furthermore, this development is strategically located to catalyze economic growth and drive transformative improvements in the southside neighborhoods of Billings, ensuring that the benefits of this project extend well beyond the ice rinks.
